OPM Special Chapter

Here's the last of all the OPM extra chapters, the special chapter which introduces the already pretty famous sisters Fubuki and Tatsumaki, or Blizzard and Tornado respectively. I've translated all hero names so far because they're simply descriptions of the heroes and I'm planning to keep it that way. Sorry for taking this long and thanks for OnePunchManFan(Batoto) for cleaning the chapter. Also thanks to the guy who uploaded the scans for us. You might notice a drop in image quality compared to the normal web chapters, but well, we have to deal with that. The new OPM chapter should be out anytime now and I can't wait to translate it. But now that I've translated all the extra chapters, I should finally have some time for the bonus chapter of Molester Man. Again, sorry for taking so long.

  1. To be honest, I think you shouldn't translate the characters' name at all, it looks really weird when reading.

    The only thing you should translate is the "epithet"

    For example, "Fubuki of Hell".

    Trust me, it'll be better this way : )

    1. They're not real names though. They're hero names given to them by the heroes association and are supposed to be descriptive codenames. I can't help you if you'd rather read the Japanese word "fubuki" instead of its translation "blizzard". Think of Storm in X-Men, do you find her name really weird too?

      But I still believe that the specific name/codename shouldn't be translated : /

      Your example of Storm from X-Men is irrelevant for my point, since her codename is indeed "Storm" from the start.

      What I'm trying to say is, keep the specific name that way seems to be better

      For example, Akainu, Aokiji, and Kizaru from One Piece. Those are not their real names right? but it looks better to put it that way.

    3. I say keep translating them. It helps emphasize the inherent silliness in most of their names (like "Bicycle Commuter" and whatnot)
      If their names were left in Japanese, it wouldn't be as apparent that their one major trait that they're so proud of is really, really stupid.

    5. Thanks for these extra chapters! No idea where you find all the extra chapters.

      Anyway, just keep it the way it is. It'll only get weird if we start switching between them. Once something like this has been established, it's best not to change. I like them being translated too.

    6. I actually think the Storm form X-men example is perfect, since it is pretty much the very same kind of superhero nickname as the one being used here.
      Sure, fubuki does sound like a real name, but its still just a codename.

      I bet the guy who wants to keep fubuki is because he thinks it sounds cuter haha

    7. Definitely keep translating the names. You should not translate the words that do not have parallel English words. Also, names like Blizzard gives more superhero feel to the manga. Fubuki, to my ears, sounds like a little girl's name. That's because I am no good at Japanese, but I assume that's the kind of people your audience are. Blizzard sounds more badass. When those people were praising her so much, "Fubuki" might not have sounded as badass as "Blizzard". Thanks for the chapters. Translation is very funny. Please don't ruin it in order to make it more "perfect." That will just ruin the fun part.

    8. Sorry to break this to you, but each translator chooses his own style.
      If you can't agree to that style, you are left with no choice but to translate it yourself to your own liking.

      If you can't do that, be grateful that you at least get a translation.

      Btw, I'm also of the opinion that these names should be translated. Sounds way cooler :)

    9. Translating those names is the right choice. I wouldn't rofl if Boon didn't translate the billionare name in chapter 15 from Agoni to Chinner. Hell, I would think that Agoni is just some common japanese name.

      I'm very sorry. I can't recall receiving your cleaned scans a month ago. It was probably when I was busy with Molester Man and had postponed everything to do with OPM until after. If I had known about your scans, I wouldn't have asked OnePunchManFan(@Batoto) to clean and I would have just used yours. But now that OnePunchManFan(@Batoto) went out of his way to clean them, I gladly used his. Sorry, it wasn't on purpose.

  17. I didn't get it if this was supposed to happen in the current chapter's present or in the second half of his 3 year training regiment.

    Sure glasses mentioned a Class C hero pointing at him but you know how these things fly over Saitama's head...
