Ketchup Ninja 16

Surprise, surprise, it's another chapter of Ketchup Ninja. This chapter doesn't have much dialog as it's mostly the continuation of Shinoko & Debbie's fight vs. the new ninja girls. I must say, this manga contains a lot more action than you'd guess from the first chapter, but I personally don't mind as the fights are kept dynamic and fun. Well, have fun reading it.

Here's an overview of all episodes on niconico:

Note that starting with episode 4, the videos aren't free of charge anymore. I can still get you the sound files and times though, if someone wants to make flash videos out of them.

  2. Ha, the mystery ninja is one of those people who can't deal with liking something so they put on a twisted pretense of hating it until they don't even know what their own feelings are.

    And again the twins' grudge is again awash in ignorance; the Japanese did assimilate Valentine's Day from America, but the idea of girls giving chocolate (and definitely, specifically chocolate) to guys on the day was a Japanese invention.

    1. Mystery Ninja => Tsundere Ninja. :/

  3. Don't forget the patented Fist of North Star "Flurry of Punches"...

    Also the Ninja Twins' Start of Darkness is freaking laaaaaaame. -_-
    ...but then again really really stupid villain motivations are kind of traditional in anime/manga, which is presumably the whole point here.

  4. ... This series just doesn't reflect American life accurately at all. Seriously, where did the mangaka get his info?
    Thanks for the chapter. lol

    1. You're welcome. I'm curious though, what exactly about manga called "Ketchup Ninja" made you think that it'd try to accurately reflect American life? It's an over-the-top ninja comic that happens to be set in America.

      I think, he got his info from a high school in New Jersey he attended himself, but it doesn't mean he didn't exaggerate or alter his experiences.

  6. I was just wondering, do you read along as you translate, or have you already read the entire series, and then decided to translate?

    1. I read the first few chapters to get a first impression, then skim through the rest to see what it's like and read along as I translate. If there's something I don't understand or something is only hinted, I read ahead to find out what it is. I know, a good translator would read all of it first to not get any inconsistency problems later on, but it's a lot more fun for me this way.
